Being disabled my whole life and seeing wheelchairs and wheelchair accessories come and go, I feel that I have a good understanding of what would benefit wheelchair users who may or may not be new to this life style. Lets start with the basics, everyday wheelchairs. Now there are tons to choose from out there with everything from light weight, to heavy, to folding and yes you guessed it, even non-folding. There are as many variations out there for wheelchairs as there are episodes of the Simpson’s. So where do you start? Well first ask yourself what kind of wheelchair user are you? Everyday, Long Trip Specific, only in the house, only out of the house, the list goes on. For someone new picking a wheelchair it can seem as overwhelming as visiting a foreign country and not speaking a lick of there language, yes its frustrating. The first chair I would recommend to anyone would be the Quickie Ti. This is a light weight, everyday, titanium wheelchair that is great for the everyday wheelchair user. It is light, compact and most importantly it looks good. For some it may seem a bit costly, but for me a wheelchair is a necessity, so why not splurge. If you want something a little more cost friendly but still in the category of “Hip” than go with the Quickie 2 . This wheelchair is not as light, and not as compact, but its good for the absolute basics, getting around town, and your still able to pop the wheels off and fold for easy transport. This chair is also great for kids or adults.
